Disconnecting A/C

Hi all,

My air con in my '79 RR hasn't been connected in years, and probably never will. I want to remove the a/c "radiator" (sits in front of the main radiator) to allow better air flow. Can i just disconnect the hoses/pipes to it or are they under high pressure. In other words, what flows thru there, water or a/c gas?
The manual says nothing about a/c at all.

Somewhere on the metal piping either around the compressor or near the radiator is a junction - underneath the plastic cap is a tyre type valve. Depressurise like a tyre. Although after all this time there probably won't be any gas left.

In theory if you release any remaining refrigerant to atmosphere you will break the law.

To do it properly take the car to a air con place or a wreckers and have the gas recovered, they shouldn't charge you for the service as every gram of gas recovered attacts a return bonus (up to $5.00 /kg)

whilst a car ac doesn't hold much gas if you multiply your issue by 100, or 1000, or 50,000.......it all adds up.

It's your choice, and who would know if you realeaed it..........but we all have to cop the
cumulative GW and / or OD that you release.

Try and do the right thing, if not, don't complain about the drought, lack of water etc.,
