Has anyone got their standard licence?
How hard is it to achieve?

I did my foundation licence last year - gvies you access to plenty of frequencies in HF, UHF, VHF.
Real easy - they really want you to pass so they get more memebers so give you plenty of help - contact one of yourl ocal Ham clubs to see if they run a course.

so did any of you go on to the standard licence?

I want to use the 6M band but it is not on the foundation licence LCOP.

As someone who has a mental block with component level electronics how hard was the standard theory exam?

I have my standard license and I belong to Hornsby Amateur radio club. This club runs both training courses and holds exams. I was lucky in that I came from an electronics background. The standard license requires a reasonable understanding of circuit theory plus operational procedures etc. It is not difficult but you need a general understanding of the subject. Some of the radio clubs have on line exams to try. I found these really good. Jim VK2MAD
