Rules of Ebay?

I'm not too familiar with using Ebay... but is it against the rules of engagement to contact the seller directly and purchase an item that you simply must have no matter the cost?

It is not allowed, but nothing stopping you asking the seller. he could give in or he could say no, or report you. But I think the seller would be the one that cops it.

Yes it is, and would/could lead to both the seller and purchaser being booted off of eBay.:(

Ahh, just do it, everybody else does. Someone on the forum said they know the way to do it ebay legal, but they didn't expand. Spoilsports.

Just remember that the seller needs to end the auction early, and do it soonish, nothing worse than having the bids take off after the horse is sold.

I've done it several times, including buying the Subaru. I reckon it happens every second or third item that I put up for auction. I haven't yet sold before the auction ends.

If the Seller has in his Ad that the item is also advertised elsewhere and he reserves the right to remove from eBay auction if sold beforehand (which is a wise thing to do), then you shouldn't have a problem contacting the Seller and trying to do a deal, just dont tell eBay about it, Regards Frank.

it isnt allowed, but more for your safety. Some people do it so there isnt an ebay transaction to prove the sale took place, then there cant be any mediation if it all goes wrong. If i was going to do it i would only do it if i was the seller and got the money first or if i was buying and offered to do that i would pick the item up in person and pay cash to ensure i got the item and could check it.
