Well today i broke my rear diff, so atm the rangie is a front wheel drive, i suspect i have brocken the spider gears in the hemisphere as there is no drive to either side and i pulled one axle out, and although a fe teeth had seen better days, i suggest its the centre. So im up for a centre and some axles.

I am thinking about an ARB air locker, with some maxidrive axles.

Peoples opinions or recomendations would be appreciated, i dont want an auto locker, and have heard a few bad things about the pnematic maxidrives binding up so what other options does that leave.

In the near future im looking at putting in a LT230 rather than the stupid borg warner viscous and one day down the track a front locker is on the cards.

BTW 94' 24 spline rangie

all locker diffs have the potential to wind up...(and then bind up/break)

just like the one in the Tcase that has a warning about it and what to do if it happens

excessive abuse and ignorance of how to and when to engage them causes 90% of the problems IMHO...

Go for it, you wont regret it, I have front and rear ARB's and Maxi axles and flanges on my 93 disco, wouldn't be without them, peace of mind and confidence, Regards Frank.

Go the locker or a mcnamarra 6 pinnion carrier if you like wheeling and go hard , forget the standard diff unless you are a highway cruiser:cool:
And the wind up only happens if your a nuff and forget:eek:

The standard 2 pinion diff centre is the weakest part of the drive line.

Maxi-drives have a vacuum actuator, not pneumatic.

This makes them a little slow to dis-engage, which can be a problem for a front locker, when you need to unlock quickly to steer in a difficult situation.

This is not a problem for a rear locker. The advantage is no compressor.

ARB can have problems with leaking seals.

Macnamarra makes a good locker with a good pneumatic actuator.

I would prefer Macnamarra or Maxi-drive over ARB.

Pretty sure that engine vacuum is air:), air being whats used in pneumatics and all:p
