I am procrastinating over the position of my laptop for the D2. I run a gps mouse with maps and a 10" touch screen.

Originally, the position was under the drivers seat on a bit of a platform surrounded by foam with extra clearance for cooling. The problem is that it is all a bit tight and it just does not want to sit or look right.

So now I am thinking of extending the lines and position it behind the rear seat. I am working on the process now and just wonder if there would be any issues which would prevent this from working. Another thought was to hang the laptop upright against the back seat swab. I am not sure if this would cause any problems.

Have a look at RAM mounts, they do a mean laptop mount, might be just what you need ;)

I can't see a problem with the upright mount. The hard drive would be the only thing, but anything in a laptop should be OK. A lot of OE desktop units for laptops sit the unit near vertical. Does the computer have a sensor for acceleration and an automatic head parking utility? It won't make a difference to whether you can mount it upright, but it might make a difference to how much HD damage you do.
