Boost compensator screws

I've removed three of the four screws holding the boost compensator cover plate on. The fourth one is completely seized and showing no desire whatsoever to move.

I'm midway through this job and getting cranky. It ought to have taken 30mins, not 3hrs. I've soaked it with penetrating oil, put a shifter onto the screwdriver... is there something blatantly obvious that I am missing, like a reversed thread (bottom left hand screw)???

May the sadist who put it together rot in hell!

If I can't get it off soon, the Disco is going to the tip.

Any ideas?

I am unfamiliar with the screw that is causing you stress but can you hit the head of it with a hammer or similar. This has the same effect as an impact driver, putting a shock through the thread can often loosen it. Be careful not to hit it too much as you can deform the head and not get the screwdriver to engage properly.

Well at last its out;)

Mole Grips around the head and I was able to undo it, I've cut a new slot into the head and prayed that this doesn't happen again.:D

While theyre out, replace with socket head cap screws ( allen heads ).

Glad you didn't hit it with a hammer, I don't think the casting on top of the injector pump is that strong, surprising you couldn;t budge it, the bottom one should have oil leaking onto it.
