as well as nursing a dying fridge I'm planning on doing this and the coolant alarm this weekend, I intend on hacking into the ignition circuit on the back of the ignition block, is this an entire dash removal job or are their some screws I cant see? I did a search but Seqfisho deleted all his pics.

You should be able to get into the back of it quiet easily ... there is about 10 screws. and it just folds forward and you have full access to the dash

I'm looking for a turbo timer for my TD5. Are the cheap Ebay timers any good?

ok, I have access to the ignition wiring, so I need to know which is which.
1.Red and white stripes
2.Orange and white stripes
3.Brown and white stripes
4.Plain white.
I need to know which is fused to the ignition for the coolant alarm, and also which is the positive from the ignition and which is the negative from the ignition for the timer.Sorry about the terminology, but that is what I have been given, dont you guys ever get sick of answering questions?:D;)

While your at it you can also get an attachment that goes with it that will by way of epoxying a sensor to the turbo give you a rough EGT reading and also allow you to set the shutdown to be EGT sensitive rather than a preset time....

I had one built ready to go in but had to use it to keep an incubator alive....

with the right thermalcouple its accurate to about .5 deg F

yeh, but I never trust my own judgement. And also the Rave cd was compiled by the same people who built a car with rear spring mounts that are 10mm different from centre in my case, why would I trust them?I prefer real facts.

Not when someones learning from the answers, trying to find out if something is dangerous or not or making sure that what they're about to do makes sense and wont cost $$$ to sort out later.

What pic were they Steve, maybe I can dig them up for you still;)

It was a very easy job to do in the Disco, I doubt the fender to be any harder

Just built my jaycar turbo timer. I bought the kit with the load sensor input "intelligent turbo timer".
Now the fun part of running the wires and adjusting the sensor.

Will update when and if successful.

I might be interested in this. I bought the same kit a year ago. Built it but never got it to work.

I got it hooked up, one wire to the ignition when the key is on, one to the negative on the ignition and one earth, it didnt work, and also made the engine run strange, so I disconnected it.
