Hiya,
After a good day on Bribie yesterday :DI took my V6SE to Car Lovers. Hi pressure hose in the wheel archers and underneath, nothing into the engine bay.
Now the radio doesn't work. Dead as a door nail.:( Checked the fuses and they appear ok.
Ideas, suggestion welcome before I ring the dealer in the morning.
Cheers,

Is there any display showing on the radio like the clock?
I have had to do a "hard" reset of the radio by pulling the fuse to the radio to turn power completely off the radio. This fixed the radio "lock up" which I encountered. If you pulled the fuses to check them and reseated them then that probably won't work for you.
Might be a dealer visit for you. I've heard about dead radios on D3's so it is not the first.

Yeah, the clock display on the dash is gone as well. I pulled both fuses so it looks like another trip to the dealer.
Cheers.

Morcha,
The radio turning off could be a couple of things, low battery voltage & yes maybe a faulty head unit but unlikely.;)
I would try a "vehicle hard reset", remove both the positive & negative battery terminals with a 13mm spanner & then connect them both together for a minute.
Obviuosly be careful not to short the wiring to the battery as u WILL do damage.
The cables wont reach each other:eek: but just use the spanner to connect to each cable.

You could pull the dash off and check all the wires are in nice and snug. We pulled the h\u out when we got the D3 (Reasoning was 50% to install an electronic brake controller and 50% because we could :)) After we reassembled the dash we had no radio because one of the plugs had come out.
Just pull the trim that borders the centre console out towards the back seats. Should pop out pretty easy.

Hi Morcha,
You mentioned "so it looks like another trip to the dealer", as though you have had some visits previously.
I'm considering buying a D3 TDV6 SE and would appreciate any relevant feedback on any problems you've encounted.
Regards, Dennis.

Dennis, the other issue was a nothing. We had a rare but very heavy fog here in Brisbane some weeks ago and I noticed the front fog lights didn't work. The dealer fixed it no probs.
Cheers.

Thanks Pete. That did the trick.

Would you expect fog lights to actually work when fog is around?
Land Rover don't :whistling:.

Well, that's your own fault. Fog lights are only to be used when there is no fog about. :D
Haven't you noticed all the Subarus, etc. that drive with the fogs on - all the time?

Ron,
As a passionate Subaru owner I'd loved to deny your outrageous accusation but I have to own up and say that my last 2 cars have been 2.5 litre Libertys and yes, I always had the fog lights on with the headlights.
Sadly, I can't do the same with the D3 as I'm very lazy and just leave the lights on auto!
Cheers.

Which is a demerit point offence and highly annoying to other road users.

Hey BigJon, whilst we're on the subject of radios, my satnav lady occasionally drops her voice down to a whisper. It's not a problem with the volume settings and the dealer I go to couldn't find any faults logged(which is as far as they would look).
Have you come across this before?? I might see if the speaker wiring is ok, otherwise it sounds like a software glitch.

I haven't come across it, but none of our local cars have SatNav either :p.

It's hard to hear but I think she says "why don't use use a road map you lazy b*stard!"

I can't remember and where we've mounted it (next to the cig lighter) I can't see any markings :) Why do you ask?

I've wired a Prodigy into my D3 and the dealer seems to think it is interfering with my electronics. I have now had them rewire it in and it is showing a short at idle, so much for their Lekkie's knowledge
I eas wondering how you wired yours in

Well, I know of at least 2 other D3s with base stereos (CD-400) that had this exact same problem. I was concerned that I had left a favourite CD in my head unit when I dropped mine off at the dealer... low and behold, it was still in there when I collected it. I suspect they did the reset as mentioned earlier - and made a mod - as it has not happened since.
Cheers,
Rob
