The disco gets tweaked

Following instructions from here (Thermoguard doc) and OL I tweaked the Disco last saturday.

Rotated diaphragm to "maximum" position, backed it off 30-deg though due to smoke levels, turned starwheel 180-deg CW, and stop screw 360-deg CW... then drove 1000km over 3 days:D

The improvement is amazing, it will maintain 110km/h on all of the biggest hills on the Hume with more to spare, overtaking is so much easier and safer and its much more flexible in any gear. I only managed a top EGT of 660 on the largest hill at 110. But I'm amazed a 200Tdi with 300,000km could drive so much better:cool:

I had mine on the dyno and the egts max'd at 670 from memory at 95bhp

I toed the caravan a few week ago and got the egt's to 581 on some good hills

Its still a little smokey and using a touch more fuel

I followed it precisely as written, plus made crucial note of all the initial positions and recorded changes in degrees. Buy a cheapo protractor, drill a hole in the centre point and push your torx driver through to keep track. The starwheel and diaphragm are easy, but it can be easy to lose track with the torx screw. So using the protractor and a reference mark that you make on the casing, its easy to record degrees of adjustment.

yeah thanks Joel....Ive been thinking about doing this for a while, but not the whole hog, just the basic mods so I dont need/wont to buy the of those EGT thingos.....just something else for me to worrie about instead of enjoying the drive......:angel:
