I'm in the middle of installing new head gaskets on my 4.4 and pulled the dizzy out and found that the little cog the drives the oil pump was just about to fall off, took it the only place in Rockhampton a PERFORMANCE () shop and he said he would make a few calls as theres no one in Central queensland that does Dizzys. Anyways they want $195 for a little f*ckin cog which must be over priced!!
Does Anyone know away around this, or can i fit a different dizzy or has someone got an old one lying around????
Thanks Heaps TIM.

I saw a RR dizzy on ebay for $50 a couple of days ago. Carried as a spare, but never used by the owner. Might be worth a search.

G'day Rocky4.4 :)
The drive gear on the V8 Dist is held on by a Roll Pin, I have a parts listing for the gear assy which is the the Gear, thrust washer above it and the Roll Pin, PART no ERC-1353 for both Detoxed and Non-Detoxed engines, I would suggest that you contact British Off Road at Forrest Glen (Nambour) they should be able to supply the parts, (07)5445 1094 ask for Craig;) you might want to get the Rubber "O" ring oil seal for the Dist to Block.P/No 603446
cheers

I have a full electronic dizzy here if you're intersted and for less than that.
I need to see what sort of drive gear it has because there are a couple of different ones that were on Rangies.

G`day Tim
What timing cover is it using ?
P76 early RR 2D and P Rover Sedans use the same pump gears .
Later RR , Rover SD1 sedan use different gears .
So 2 types .
As you know the oil pump is driven by the gear on the bottom of the dissy.
The 2 different types have different drives for the pump , one type is a slot and the other a male slot or like a screwdriver end .
The shafts for the drive gears are also different lengths .
So you need to know what cover it`s using what type of drive and the length of the drive gear shaft to be sure of the right gear for the dissy .
If you can locate a dissy that looks the same from any of the above it probly is .
If it has the later oil pump almost any Rover , RR , Disco , County , etc can be fitted but also depends on points and electronic as to how much is needed .
Cheers

G'day Rocky 4.4 :)
I would say the wear is caused by age, and from the acceleration and deceleration over time.

i know its a female slot on the end of the dissy.
G`day in that case it will have a RR cover and most dissys from engines that use 2 numbers and a letter in the engine number pre fix eg 14D , 15A ( start for RR is 11D ) etc will work as a unit , other than the points , electronic thing .
If the pre fix is 341 , 355 , 359 or 398 it will be the wrong type drive .
The drive gear ect from the same dissys will be the same as what you have , possibly in better condition .
The drive for the pump does flop about it piviot on the pin .
The gear on the dissy end should be firmly fixed .
As said both are held by pins , so if that`s all thats wrong do as UncleHo suggests and just replace the pin .
What i`m talking about is if you need to replace the dissy as a unit , if the hole in the shaft is worn it may be the easiest option ?
Cheers
