View Full Version : Another recovery or two

Some may remember a few days ago I had to use a tractor to recover the next door neighbour's Hilux. Well, again this morning! He was coming back to his house with a load of firewood, and stopped at a gate to open it. As he got out to open the gate, the RH back wheel went down to the axle in what had appeared to be solid ground. This time I was able to pull him out with the Series 2a.

Yesterday it was one of his mates in a Nissan Bravo with a tandem trailer (both empty), but I don't count this seeing it was not a four wheel drive.

Although we are still in drought, the recent rain has left a few pretty muddy patches in low lying areas, and with it so cold there is little evaporation.

You won't believe this - about 4pm, "Can you come and pull me out again - better bring the tractor". He was probably right - dual cab Hilux with about a tonne of firewood on the back - had to use a shovel so he could open the driver's door! I doubt the Landrover had enough weight to move it, although might have managed with a kinetic recovery. Tractor pulled it out without trouble.

Maybe you should start charging him :D

That's alright - he's feeding my dogs while I go to the Expo in Sydney this weekend, and he's gone halves with me on a set of lathe tools he got off ebay, so it works both ways.
