Should I fit my box with no oil in the torque converter or wait till I get the oil so I can pre fill the torque converter first.

I have now had advice that I must fill the torque converter and that it makes no difference.

Not happy. Spent all day on the phone and driving around trying to get the Synthetic oil. Responses ranged from whats that? to ooh will take a few weeks to get that sort of thing in. Earlier in the week when I spoke to some suppliers it was no problem:angrylock::angrylock::angrylock:

i myself wouldnt worry about filling the torque convertor. but i spose it wont hurt, as long as you dont make a mess when fitting it to the box!

what was the reason you were given for prefilling Edd?

is the torque converter hard to fill after installation?

MUST it be filled before startup?

George130, drain the oil from the g/box, measure how much oil, usually 4 to 5 litres, I think the ZF box takes about 9 litres in all, that means that there is about 4 or 5 litres of oil held in the torque convertor (TC). If I'm fitting a new empty TC I always put an amount of oil into the TC before fitting, check with an Auto tranny shop or the supplier of the TC. If it is not a new empty TC and you haven't drained the original, then just put it back in, They are a pain to drain if they dont have a drain plug, Regards Frank.
