As some may know, approximately 3 months ago partner and I invested in an 85 v8 110. Glad to say, that after about 2.5 months of being off the road I can cheerfully say that it's back on, with vastly fewer leaks. Mind you, most of it's down time was due to work uptime, and the fact that Matt (my other half) and I have been working or dealing with other issues non-stop. In the end I cracked it, took it into my workshop and got a hand! :o Yes lazy lazy me. Depressingly, I feel as though the repairs are only part way there...Thus far we've done rear wheel cylinders and shoes, front and rear diff pinion seals, front crank seal, gearbox output shaft seal and transfer output seal...I've spent a good few hours attacking the messes of wiring that were visible and sorting those out but I've still got quite a way to go. I need to change the engine mounts which isn't a big issue.

I do need a bit of help though...Next on the list of things to fix is the vent controls. My heat adjustment door does not operate...which is fine at the moment, since the heat is well desired...but come summer I doubt I'll be much impressed. So the questions are, where is the blend door and how do I access it?

Blend door? What sort of high-tech system are you expecting?

The temp is controlled with a valve in the water line at the air box, passenger side rear of engine bay. Like all older Landies, it tends to corrode a little stiff.

Btw do you have A/C or the vastly simpler and better vents?

Awww c'mon, blend doors aint hi-tech. They're just a flap that's often attached to a cable that shift the air flow from off the heater core and onto the evaporator or vice-versa.

And my baby is hi-tech, it hair air conditioning...that doesn't work...that's also on the list of things to do!

I understand that yes, the system will have a heater tap, which is what you're describing...as in a tap that turns the heated water on and off in reference to flowing through the heater core. But surely it will have the door that adjusts between heater core and evaporator...or am I sadly deluding myself here!? :p

I don't know about the 110's but in a Series III you had two ventilation controls (aside from the firewall vents) 'hot-cold' and 'up-down'. 'Hot-cold' went straight to the heater tap and 'up-down' closed a flap over the lower vents. That was it. I strongly suspect the 110 will be the same but I don't know for sure - someone will be along soon to correct me if I'm wrong. :)
