SIIA Holden Conv. - WOT issue

G'day All,

I'm not getting Wide Open Throttle on my SIIA 186 conversion - this explains the highway speed issue I've complained about on here before! The linkage is a shambles and is probably beyond redemption (too convoluted and worn). I'm thinking of converting to a cable, but as this car will be made original at some point in the future I dont want to bodgy up a cable to the pedal. Has anyone tried fitting a cable between the linkage (where it terminates on the LHS inner guard) and the carby? I'm thinking a short cable from a motorbike, with appropriate brackets, may do the trick - but I'm keen to see what others have done.

Hi Adam,
Was it originally a six or four cylinder before the 186?
I had no accelerator linkages at all and found the hardest part was working out how they went in and where they went. I briefly looked at a cable setup but gave that idea away and put linkages in. I have quite a few parts here still.

I had a Series III with a Holden six and its linkages were a mess as well.
I kept the rod to where it came out near the steering box. On this rod I put a lever and adapted a cable from a HZ holden from this point which then connected easily to the standard fittings on the carby.
It was cheap and easy, it was really simple and I never had any problems in eight years that I had it.
