so much for Tread Lightly...

I hope you were collecting your firewood from the 5 legal collection points: http://www.naturebase.net/content/view/2218/770/

did you pay your $15.40/tonne?

i think the pics with the high lift say it all,
i think you both did very well in a really sticky situation.
i don't think i would be looking for firewood there - it's all wet.

There were no ruts at all before I drove there, got the trailer stuck got out and went home for recovery gear, backed in as far as I dared, all was OK then plonk I went thru. The wet area comes up around a blind bend,no chance of stopping and turning around before you hit it,especially with a tandem trailer in tow.
Gromit
The track was pushed by a dozer during a recent fire,it starts in higher country but due to the windrows either side of the track holding water I was too scared to try a 3 point turn with the trailer on.I didnt like venturing off the track to recover but it was the only way.It is a legal CALM non fee paying firewood collection area,Collie CALM has 4 or 5 such areas,I was in the designated area at the time acording to my CALM supplied map.

Good to see you got them both out OK. which reminds me, my lack of recovery points.
I got caught in similar goop on a track in the Pilbara a few years ago in my Series One, dropped down onto both diffs. All I had was a hand winch, a spare tyre that we had to bury a few times to winch from, myself and the apprentice. Trouble was it was January, 75% humidity and 38 deg.
We sure earnt our beer that day.
All the trouble was caused by Telstra that had layed some sort of cable. All would have been fine had we not just had a cyclone.

I can tell you using a highlift jack as a winch doesnt work when you are stuck like that,Im pretty strong and couldnt work the lever once the pressure was on,would need a cheater bar which would end up overloading the highlifts mechanism.

Yep, the compressability of the soil impressed me too.:D

How long did it take Andy?
