Something different dash wise

I also inherited an old wooden dash centre section from a very old jag, it houses four guages and has a row of switches for various things and the ign and starter button, so with some trimming and a squirt of matt black, bingo the latest addition to the Antichrist, I also got horned at the rotten blinker switch breaking I beat the old one with a stick, cracked a beer and thought a bit, in the end I came up with a temporary solution I jerried one out of an XE falcon into it, this controls blinkers only, I fitted a dipper switch and a horn button on dash, I just scrounged a new replacement switch for an old FJ it just clamps on to the tube, happy days ahead, the rego boys can go whack emselves its staying like this its reliable and fool proof, now we just wait for the wiper switch to flake out, in one of more silly moments I switched the batt terminals and now my fuel and temp gauges dont work, have I blown the little voltage can on back of the dash cluster must be a voltage regulator everything else works ok, twas a new batt and the pos and neg symbols were impossible to read , it wasnt me the cat did it!:wasntme:

My rego guy wasn't worried when he saw I had built new light switches. His response was as long as it works correctly and is in easy reach it's fine.

one has a certian amount of poetic license with a landy, my igniton switch would start the engine, easy fix wire in a push button to start, my old girl had all sorts of africanfitted alarms and a wierd magnetic starting set up, all this was turfed, i hate clutter but i like reliabilty in wiring so as things go redundant i wire in my own stuff through decent relays and fuse boxes, my motto is if i cant fix it it cant be fixed, the poms are not electricians back sides
