Has anyone had any issues with the after market coolant loss alarm system?
My alarm is going off fairly regularly when I pull up at the lights. It mutes if I rev up the engine for a bit or move off from the lights. When I shut the engine down there is always some air space when I remove the plug above the thermostat. Probably take about a third cupfull of water.
I suspect my resent troubles since the head Gasket failure aren't over yet.
To recap the head gasket failed at the rear of #4, had approx 6 thou shaved off the head and refitted it.
I'v got an orrible feeling that the head is cracked as well.:($1500plus:( ...--- if I can get one.
oh and sorry, its a Disco 200TDI done 320,000 K's

I would start by doing a pressure test and chemical test on your radiator. mine was doing the same thing, which turned out to be a split in the internal layer of the top hose leaking into the external layer.

Sweet:cool: Rangieman.
I've one fitted, but I've put the probe into the top of the radiator cap. I bought a brass fitting and bored the centre out. I did this so that the alarm wouldn't go off if there was a small amount of air in the top of the radiator hose. I's worked fine. Hope that helps Graz.

On the 300Tdi there is a blank plug you can tap and use.
Sounds to me like your low coolant alarm is working fine.... unfortunately.
Perhaps it is time to get the coolant tested for combustion gases and perhaps pressure test the cooling system, I would guess you have more problems.

i had the under hose probe low coolant alarm originally and it started beeping as you described. Then it finally started beeping non-stop.
Mine had coolant though.
I then called David Jones and he sent out the newer inline version. At no cost.:D
no probs since.:)
