Planning on spare stocking for a Cape York Trip next year and I thought carrying some spare wheel bearings might be handy as I have 200K on the clock. Rang the stealer to find out front and rear hubs are different and expensive $468.00 each. I will look at a different source. Looking at RAVE these appear to a little involved in effecting a replacement in the bush at the side of the road. Has any one had to replace the wheel bearing hubs on a Disco 2?:(

The bearing can be purchased but it ain't cheap.

I have a few used hub/bearings with fairly low km on them if you're going via Sydney.
They'd be relatively easy to change as they're the complete unit.

I don't suppose you've got any P38A units? ;)

RonRon, I can safely say it's one of the rare P38a parts that I have never raised a warranty claim against !!!!

If I come across more than 4, I'll save you one :).

I happen to have one old front hub and CV from a P38A that had a bearing collapse. I thought about fitting a new bearing to make it a spare...

When I did the suspension balljoints a few weeks back, I checked the front hub bearings and they were still tight with no discernible play. Unfortunately they can't be lubed.

Thanks for the offer Scouse. I think the Clubs planned route is from Adelaide to Innamincka and up. If I get a chance to be in Sydney with work and you still have the bearings I'll take you up on the offer.:)

Don't you only need 3 - the rears are the same left and right?

When I did my last big trip a local repair put together a spare parts kit...didn't cost anything upfront and only pay for what you use...the clutch master cylinder was real handy at mt dare

RonI'm sure that both fronts are the same parts number too.

Surely 4 spares are better than 2 :).

You're right. The P38A has different units left and right front.

Yep, 4 are better than two but one would hope that no more than one would fail front and rear!
