Cadillac offering clear taillamps on 2008 CTS?

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ (http://www.thegmsource.com/index.php?categoryid=17&p2_articleid=544)We thought we knew almost everything there was to know about the new 2008 Cadillac CTS, but as these latest spy pics reveal GM still has a few tricks up its sleeve for the upcoming sedan. First up, these fresh-off-the-line production cars feature clear taillights for the first time. Look a little closer and you'll also notice the new 'CTS4' badges denoting that these are the new AWD variants.
According to the guys who photographed the cars, a second little badge was attached just above the CTS label that said 'Direct-Injection', meaning these new AWD versions were equipped with GM's new all-aluminum 3.6L V6 engine. With the direct-injection feature on board, the new V6 will develop up to 300hp.
Full production of the '08 CTS is expected to start by the end of summer with the first cars hitting showrooms by the fourth quarter.
The new taillamps certainly look striking in the picture, but we'll have to wait till we see them in real life to pass our judgement.

so is this the current commodore engine?

It could well be. It's used all over the place. It goes to Korea and comes mailed back in Captivas, it also goes to Italy where it's used in Alfas in a high performance version.

I dunno but why would it be a Holden engine - just asking the question.
GM are worldwide, with engine production in all four corners - they even produce engines in the UK (Vauxhall) ..............
Just thought I would ask:o

I'll just start a rumour...and put it on a C'dore forum:twisted::twisted:
Sounds like the C'dore will have a direct injection
V6 before too long, developing 300hp;)
Or I could start another:
VE C'dore to be replaced by a Cadillac (with clear tail lights):D:D:D (or vice versa)

It is a variant of the commodore v6. All the flash stuff goes to Cadillac first as its GM's premium brand and then filters down through. The commodore will get direct injection somewhere along the line (possibly a HSV variant will get it first). If you guys are interested Wheels magazine regularly has news and information regarding this engine and development done by Holden for the wider GM brand.

Nah,
the Sunbird is long gone, or is it rangieman?:D
btw: tell the boys they can keep the Korean things,
a VE wagon awd diesel will do the missus very nicely,
given she does 800ks a week in remote areas;)
(but the futura with its LSD, does the job)
