I have MS Office XP and AVG anti virus on my computer.

Two of my excel speadsheet files have charts also attached. When I switch on my computer and go into the files they work OK. However when I go into the files after AVG has done its scheduled scan of my system the spreadsheet files open OK but then the chart continually makes copies of itself - thousands of them until the system is fully loaded up nand freezes. If I have AVG disabled there is no problem as a scan has not taken place.

I have uninstalled MS office and AVG and reinstalled both programs but the problem continues. The system is clear of viruses and spyware/trojans etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Garry

Neither did mine until I did a recent clean install - what a bummer:(

Garry try deleting the file in your profile:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\Excel<version no.>.xlb

e.g.
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\Excel11.xlb

This is executed/recreated when excel starts.

Have given it a go and we see what happens after the next scan.
