Some minor issues I had with my local land rover dealer...
In a large south western town..
My flex plate was replaced, so I had a look at how theyd gone. I used to teach automotive. I bet they wished I hadn't...
1) Hoses and wires not retained in their clips, especially looking up from underneath on drivers side.:(
2) Wires and breather extension hose hanging down behind engine when previously retained against pipework running along top of firewall.:(
3) Wires to multiplug running over top of bellhousing: one kinked and frayed, one severed.:o
4) Above plug not replaced, sitting on top of bellhousing.
5) Top left bellhousing retaining bolt loose by 30mm:eek::eek:
6) Steel transmission fluid cooler (? I think) pipe behind head doesn’t seem to be routed correctly, pushing against fuel pressure regulator on right of engine (noticed this after head replaced but it looks worse now).:(
7) Small bolt retaining sheet metal plate to bellhousing left side of engine about “half way up” loose.:o
8) Two bolts retaining engine rear acoustic cover to rear of head in place but loose (can only feel one, presuming other has not fallen out…).:(
9) Above cover dropped loosely down back of engine - bolts are under it not through it!:o:o
10) Main cover bolt on drivers side pulled through acoustic cover, cover loose.:mad:
My worry is WHAT IS IT LIKE INSIDE!!??:eek:
They have been chastised and are making it all better and brought me a courtesy car to my house... driving my car back two hours to them...with the sensor unplugged..
:(

I hope they get it right this time!
The beaming bloke on P plates who picked up my car suggested, when the starter motor failed until multiple turns of the key, that some wires may be loose. They had it rebuilt a few months back. I don't doubt him!
Oh well. I guess if you want the job done...:(

You didn't go to a certain south west coastal dealer did you??
I darkened their door three times (for a job they should have done right the first time.) Never again!!

we've had similar experience with a sydney dealership.
we had a new engine fitted under warranty, the mechanics cracked the battery box cover. the engine leaked oil. about 1 litre per week.
it wnet back in on monday to get the leak fixed. they fixed it alright! tuesday, my wife put 5 ltrs through it and dropped it at the dealer in the afternoon. it's still in at the moment while they fix the leak and verify the leak is fixed.
the top cover of the motor will also be replaced where it is all scratched up from being kicked around the workshop floor and so will the heat sheild near the turbo, it was fitted with the wrong bolt and rattles around, so they had a go at bending it to get it to stop rattling.
but all is not grim. as my wife's car is her work vehicle and she needs an automatic with a towbar to drag her trailer around with, the assistant service manager has bent over backwards to accomodate her needs. when the motor was being replaced, they hired a car for us and in the past they have given us a D3 for a couple of days, but yesterday after they rang me to tell me they had found a car for her and that i didn't need to come up and get her, she turns up at home towing her trailer with an S type jag.
so although the workmanship has been woefull, the customer service has been excellent.

Jamo, as mention in my PM yes it was there. Anyone wants info PM me. At least they are rectifying problems, I feel sorry for the staff "out the front" whose jobs rely on the competence of someone who gives a company a bad name from the workshop :(
This was not the first time or I wouldn't have posted it.

I felt sorry for the girl at the counter. She was doing her best, but was getting fed wrong info by the service manager.

Well youve found out why it keeps breaking down, it's not the vehical it's the mechanics.
Maybe you should offer for an exorbanant amount of money to train up their workshop staff to an acceptable level so to get rid of this bad name.
The main problem is that some people are not patient and wont bother keeping a car through all this sort of thing and trade it on something Jap and bag out the Landies to 100s of people when it was the crap mechanic that caused the problems.
I am a mechanic and I am amazed at the lack of training in comparison to what I went through that modern dealership mechanics at some dealerships go through.
Specific brand and specific Job training and their own qualifications that dont actually mean anything out of that brand.
Sorry to hear about it but it seems to be happening more and more these days as cars get more and more technical but your problems are basic mechanics that an apprentice should be able to do without a problem, whats so hard about put it back from where it came from.

****!!!
Your a tolerant man!
I would have (and have in the past) gone 'right off' and demanded compensation as well as rectification of the issues...
Ring the local motoring body and get them to investigate the workshops practices

Here in WA apprentices finish then its off to the mines. So you get a workshop full of newbies while the experienced bloke is the guy stuck at the front desk. Feel sorry for him!

In southwest WA.
Remarkably similar name, just an "an" not a "ur"!
They rang me to say they "needed a bracket" and it would take a few days. By "needed" I gather meant "lost"...
