Auto Shifter Knob Attachment

I need to remove the centre console in my D2 to fit a CDL system, but can't figure out how the auto shifter knob is attached. My factory workshop manual doesn't help at all. Anyone know how to remove it?

Easy.

Kneel on the front seat, get above the auto gear knob, put it in about N so it the lever is vertical and pull really hard straight up towards the roof lining and the knob comes off. Don't twist side to side, just straight up with full force, you wont break it, but you might hit your elbow on the roof lining.

I have done it many times to remove consoles to add CDL.

My manual said to place in Drive which I did and it came straight up without much problem.
