Not knowing the state you live in does not help, but just take the time to ring around and you should get a better idea of prices.
Obviously age and previous driving history make a big difference.
Also the amount of cover asked for makes a difference ie market value, agreed value, accessories covered, excess, etc.

Hi Steve.
I used to have the same problem in the UK. Dont know if it works the same here but if you join an owners club over there they usually have deals with specialist insurance companies who are familiar with the vehicles, special editions, modifications, etc who offer a decent discount for being a member of the club. (Think they figure if you're 20 something and in a car club you'll be a geek). Cost me 30 pounds to join but saved over 500 so they can call me what they want;). Even not being a club member but using a Land Rover or 4x4 specialist is worth a go.
Hope that helps. Good luck!

As a younger driver with a Disco Tdi I had a good response with Allianz. That was 7 years ago though!
We also have a good run currently with NRMA
Also, as a last resort, try:
Just Car Insurance and
http://www.ecarinsurance.com.au/
(nonetheless, you do get what you pay for...)
