Hi Guys
Im peed off with SGIO.Insurance is due on BlackBetty, here are the policy costs for the almost 3 years Ive owned her.
1st $21600 agreed value(their min) =$775
2nd $15400 agreed value(their fig) = $736
3rd $12860 agreed value(ther fig) =$795
I gave them a call,Depreciation is the reason for the decline in agreed value,OK but why dearer premiums? In your area sir that model of vehicle is in the higher risk both for being stolen and being involved in an accident, the policy is worked out on averages.
Told the guy,Ive got the only one around here, gets driven 1.5KM to work round trip each day during the week and if I left it in the main street with the keys in it still wouldnt get stolen.
Sorry thats the best price on the policy.
What about the agreed value? How many Ks sir? 231000ks.
We can re-depreciate,$18360 agreed value =$888.
Still think they are stooging me,what agreed values/policy cost are you other D2 owners paying?
Been with SGIO for over 20 years,1 claim of around $1400 plus windscreens which are insured for.

I left it until the very last day to pay my insurance premium with GIO.
That week, they were trying to call me twice a day, bang on 9:30 and 4:30pm. When I finally managed to pick up their call, they were asking if I were happy with my insurance cover, is there anything we can do, blah blah blah.
Ended up getting a $75 reduction and additional windscreen cover at no extra... not that I was going to switch cover, just completely forgot about it while moving house.

$755 p/a, 86 Rangie V8, valued at $5000, I'm under 25. RACV bumped my premium after my other car was nicked and recovered (even though they caught the tip-rats). AAMI won't come near me from the moment I mentioned "V8" despite being insuring my other car with them for the past six years.

I live in Canberra where suburbs do not have individual post codes but areas too. I live in an area of about 6 suburbs that all have the same postcode. I also live in the area of the fires in 2003 - one suburb had 450 homes destroyed, mine had about 4 houses so you can imagine how many cars got burnt in the area.

In 2002 my disco cost $450 to insure - in 2003 it cost $650 to insure - why? a high claim area - because of the fires - it goes on the post code even though my suburb was not the main area hit. So as I live in a low crime, accident area I indicated to the insurance company that I could reasonably expect premiums to go down from 2004 on as the claim rate would have gone down (no fires).

You guessed it, in 2005 my disco cost $700 to insure even though claims in the area had gone down - as the consultant said to me - "you don't actually expect premiums to go down after we have put them up do you" - yeah I know, I am nieve.

it goes on the post code even though my suburb was not the main area hit.

Where I live the one postcode covers quite a large area but the insurance is broken down into areas. I'm in a lower cost area.

My insurance with AAMI is far lower than LandyAndy's for a far higher agreed value.

Maybe you should get a quote from them

I'll chime in with my bias - NEVER USE AAMI!!!!!

The dramas I have had in the last 4 months, trying to get them to fix the problems with my car, which resulted from the negligence of their "repairer" have driven me to despair.

You get what you pay for (largely) with AAMI - they choose the cheapest repair quote, you get no choice, then they give you the line "warranty issues need to be dealt with between you and the repairer" - its a giant rip off.

I've been with AAMI for about 10 years (maybe more, cant recall). All my current issues stem from getting a cracked windscreen replaced, the only other claim I have made (hail damage to D2 roof and bonnet) was dealt with very well - it helped that I lived next door to the panel shop and could drop in and chat to the blokes. I put my good experience with AAMI down to luck - this latest episode seems to indicate they are rubbish.

BTW - never use INSTANT WINDSCREENS!!!!

Sorry to hear it Adam - my experience with AAMI is exactly the opposite. I was with GIO and had a brick through the rear window - I claimed as the repair would only cost me the cost of the excess. Before my no claim was reduced and premiums increased I looked at other companies.

I declared the damage and AAMI gave me my full no claim bonus, I paid less premiums than GIO and all was good.

Later I had a tree fall on my disco doing $7000 damage. The repair to the front guard was awful - I complained to AAMI under their lifetime warranty on repairs and they had it fixed by another repairer on the spot - even continued to give me taxi vouchers to get too and from the their office - they made arrangements for the car to be collected and delivered to and from the repairer to their office.

My experiences have been excellant and I have had a number of claims with them.

GEEEZZZ I just did my P38 online with Allianz for $550, aami and the other 4 or 5 I tried were all in the $900 - $1100 range!

I am not overly worried about damage, I really only want insurance so I have some cash to splash on a new car if the Rangie is written off, which doesn't take much these days, and also incase I run into someone!

Must be a northern adelaide burbs thing ;)

I called Allianz 2 weeks ago and got a quote $$ for D1 , their premium is a little more expensive that AAMI but get a choice of your own repairer, insured all my accessories with them,so then from same person I got a quote for home/content and found them to be cheaper than NRMA so brought my House/content insurance with them and they gave me a 10% Loyalty discount.

I must say I am quite happy with Allianz and a lot of other insurers would not insure me due to modification on susp and cost of Accessories excedeeding a Certain amount , but am much happier to be with Allianz than with AAMI only because of having a choice of my own repaiper.

i am under 25 and have a d2 td5. sgio want 809 to cover it for 18k. i phoned them to change it to 21k and the price 809. i have added all my extras so its a pretty good package.

i was with hbf but they became hard to deal and did not want to add extras to the cover.
