Ah, heh, heh, heh... I'm really getting somewhere now - I've located the possible source of noises, identified the mystery overdrive and now, on to the next mystery!

I want to fit a 3/4 tilt to The Ute With No Name (TUWNN). I'm a bit confused about the location of the hood sticks though. At the expo I clocked the super-restored shorty ute with 3/4 tilt but the arragement at the front of the tub was different to mine. That one had the round holes to slot the stick into - I dont have that. I have the round hole under the hard cab part, but not a second lot out in the tub.

Here is a pic of what I have - does anyone know if a 3/4 tilt can be fitted to this?

It looks as though some kind of bracket bolts on where the 2 holes are, but I have no idea...

Cheers!

Not unless you get a new tub or modify that one, the fuel filler neck, canopy would have to go, possible but a heap of work

Must be possible somehow - what with the gutter system on the back of the cab. But how to connect a hoop set, I dunno.

Funny, it's the third gutter I've seen in 2 months, but there's one for sale on ebay that the seller says is only the third he's een in 25 years! The first I saw was on a SWB as well.

G'day Dobbo - thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure I understand...

The pictures I've seen of the 3/4 tilt dont seem to effect the area where the fuel filler is - what part of the canopy would have to go?

Just to clarify, this is the effect I'm after

Is that how all the s2 cabs came out.

When I converted my s3 into a ute the rear cabin section was flush, didnt have the window sticking out and that gutter section like on yours. It also had a full width panel/bracket that sat behind the cabin, about where that gutter section is on yours that had holes for the hood sticks.

Maybe you could search around for a different cab setup.

Have attached a photo but it doesnt show the bracket for the sticks because I was doing a trayback.

sorry a misread post by you I thought you wanted to convert the back tub to a tilt tray type setup.

Don't mind me

very apologetic

Try a boating parts supplyer for the tilt canopy, for the canvas there are a few people in the yellow pages that make them up but be warned they are not cheap.

Hey - I may have worked this out...

This appears to be the front hood stick for a 3/4 cab - its different to the rear one and has a bracket on the base - which I seem to have the holes for.

The confusing part is the one I saw at the expo - it definitely had full size holes where the stick slotted in - I have a pic on my camera - is this just a landy variation?

Some of the army fittings are specific - e.g. there is a large variation between the apparently similar Series 3 FFR and GS bodies, including number and location of hood bow mounts, plus other mounting points. Was the car you saw ex-army?

No, it was civi. I'm sure others would have noticed it - very extensive resto job, dark green S2(a?) SWB with rear PTO, front capstan winch ,ute cab and 3/4 canvas...

I'll figure out how to get the piccies off my phone and chuck them up - at this point its just curiosity though, I'm pretty sure I can make up the front stick using the one I have by cutting the lower leg part off and welding on a piece of angle - of course if anyone has one laying around they dont want...;)

I'll measure it up tomorrow arvo and see how it looks. If it's a goer I'll put it in the projects forum for others.
