Hi All,

Was just reading the "IIA disc brake" thread and found The Sheik of Scrubby Creek's post that mentioned "ZD fairlane power steering ram, home made power steering pump,".

I've been toying with the idea of adapting the ZD Ford ram system to my SIII 109 for several years but I've never actually managed to get a good look a one in the flesh to see how it might be used. So Mr Sheik and others who may have done this, would you be able to provide any details, please? Photos, diagrams, any info, would be most welcome. Or, is there a better/easier way to PAS a SIII? I, and my good lady especially, would be eternally appreciative. (She finds the original "Armstrong" power steering a bit of a challenge.)

All contributions gratefully received.

I would be concerned about the integrity of the old XY type steer unit plus they leak like nothing going and expensive to kit, I have heard of a way to do this I will search my notes and find what it was, I thought some defenders had power steer, might be worth investigating

I have PAS on my S III which I believe originates from a Ford, you are quite welcome to look at it if you are still in S.E QLD. (I am in Iswich) pm me if you are interested.

Cheers, Mick.

I havent driven the thing yet, but the steering is light without the engine running and 3-1/4 turns lock to lock.

Nissan LD28 automatic, now with nice new S11A transfer case as original one was run without oil.
