D110 - Turning Electonic Traction Control (ETC) off?

G'day Guys,

In my MY 2002 D110 Xtreme I have Electronic Traction Control (ETC) as standard. Sometimes I wish to turn it off - for Sand driving etc

Is there a confirmed way of turning this off? I have heard stories of putting into Low ratio diff lock on and switching off and on again etc. The other method is pulling the fuse?

So has anyone worked it out? If so what do we need to do?

I seem to remember a thread where someone pointed out that if you pump the brake pedal a certain number of times in rapid succession it switches TC off until you re-start the vehicle.

Just pull the fuse if you want to compare TC/no TC on sand. I don't think you be happy without TC, it is far better to have 4WD instead of 2_cross_WD. It took me time to get used to TC, but once you in you win :)

Now only Power/Weight/CG of my bus stops me sometimes to do what my mates on Wranglers do on sand dunes, but twin locked longbase TD cruis-patrols can't follow me very often.

Don't turn it off, learn how to use it properly.

edit: when no fuse you'll see 3 warnings: TC, ABS, Hand Break. Just ignore and drive. It is funny how it goes without TC :)

Doesn't matter, diff locks work well with TC. When all locked TC having a rest, when one diff locked, TC applies only on unlocked(not locked) pair of wheels. All proven experementally on my mates Defender '04. I have no lockers, can't afford at the moment...

On soft beach exits TC works as locker and difficult to steer, so nearly every time i'm ending up making my own track. I've played without TC and no way to make new track, sinks down. Existing lines can be managed only with momentum, see good run up is requred.

When attacking dunes on "good speed" and one or two wheels off the ground TC comes to help, but often to late. Not spectacular, 'cos no sand over roof, but less load on axels after landing. Another advantage TC helps to keep equal load on all axels. Imagine how unhappy would be axel when wheel get traction on 100km/h spining.
