Hi,
I'll go to Sydney in Oct. and was wondering if there is a great outdoor/camping place? I want to look at a Blackwolf Turbo 300 and other tents in that size. I've never ever been in Sydney so exact location would be a big help. That's what happens if you come from Germany direct to Hobart build a house, have kids, work, and have a Landrover.
No one can believe we've never been on the mainland. Kids will be happy to go to the zoo.

Kent Street in the middle of the city is camping store heaven. Within about a two block radius there are half a dozen places.

Much like Hobart, really.:D

Cheers
Simon.

What part of Sydney are you visiting?

There's a few places along Parramatta road.

We're gonna stay in Wollongong at a friends place and head to Sydney by train to do all the family/kids things.

Hi Roadrunner, there is a couple of camping stores in the Wollongong area also, one at King St Warrawong not far from Harvey Norman(The great outdoors) open 7 days and another on the Princes Hwy at Unanderra who's name escapes me which is closed on sundays. both are worth a look seeing your in the area.

Anaconda opened a store in the Auburn area .. from memory they stock Black Wolf products ..

92 Parramatta Road
Lidcombe New South Wales
Ph: (02) 9737 8433
GPS: S 33 50.925 E 151 2.96

You can also try the Amazon Outdoor Superstore in Wetherill Park. The only shop in Sydney that sells Oztent. Not sure if they stock Black Wolf:

Unit 2/ 1273 The Horsley Drv
Wetherill Park NSW 2164

The stores on Kent Street in the Sydney CBD are more geared towards hiking, climbing etc. They don't really stock 4WD tents and gear. They are good though and worth a look when you are in the city.

UTM (Eastings and Northings) is far more useful around town (in fact, anywhere on land) than degrees and minutes.

Street directories are marked in Eastings and Northings (as are topo maps). :)

Just down the street from me. Unfortunately they only accept Subaru drivers, pretty sure there's a ban on any other make of car.:D

You should see it on a Saturday morning, like a Subaru convention.

So you and I will both have to go in our Subarus, ditto for LRH.

there are a couple of stored in campbelltown, - there is a bus from wollongong to campbelltown, or its a short 20 min drive.

the stores in kent street are good - but are all name brand - pallin, mountain design, etc - aimed atthe yuppy buisness bushwalking types, for tents the burbs are the go!
the stores in the city to have some good specials sometimes - there is also a kathmandu clearenace centre at the birkenhead point factroy sales centre....

I want to have a look at a Blackwolf Turbo 300. I think this might be a good tent for us. A camper trailer is out of the question at the moment ( want a new boat first) and the big dome tent we have at is a pain to setup. So I want to see a BW live and if I like it the price should be ok. And as long as we can ship it as luggage in the plane we're right.

No problems - Subarus are the new Volvos - just observe how many hat wearing Suby drivers there are now.
