Worth going to. The races are great. Most people pay very little attention to what is going on at the track and seem to concentrate on draining their eskies. Saw a number of people carting around green wheelie bins full of ice and beer which I thought was quite innovative.
We camped on the banks of the Diamantina out of town. Much quieter than all the rowdiness in town.

Damn it, that's daddies little girls birthday. She's 25 this year.
Oops, some thing some thing about the female of the opposite sex and ageism, and waffle.
Any how, it's my only daughter's birthday that weekend. You'd think she would have been more considerate, than to be born on Fathers Day.
Sorry, you are just going to have to re-schedule Birdsville races.
I can't change my little girl's birthday, the world is just going to have to re-schedule to suit My Babies birthday.:D
No hurry, tomorrow will be soon enough, thank you. We will now return you to your normal programming.
Shorty.

G'day all.
If you do go and you get stuck for a camp - 'cos it's a bit windy and rough out of town - wander over to the council shed at the airport, just behind the pub...every time I've been there's a few blokes sitting around a fire having a couple. So put on, or even better, ask your missus' to put on a sad face and ask if you can camp in the airfield perimetre - it's usually reserved for the 'fly in' mob. Anyway, we camped there for $15 a head and it was a short walk to the showers and dunnies and there was HEAPS of firewood. We slipped the boys a few tins on the way out too. It's usually got the 'older' crowd camped there, so it's secure and no loud yahoo's and crap all over the ground.
Have fun!!!
