what is wrong with the td5 1st one sh@t its self
after a 146ks 2nd one lasted 2 weeks then through a
big end cap out the side of the block...... Its cost
me $10000 all ready now I've got a fist hole
in the side of the block........ Happened doing
60k in bumper 2 bumper traffic.... tap tap BANG
pull over some smoke.... Its all over:mad::mad::mad:
What do I do now???????????????????????????

build 1 outa the 2, where are you at, Theres some people in here that need bits n pieces for td5s and providing they spec up ok Might be willing to part with some dosh.
If it were me and the insurance company plays the game and lets you keep the wrecked donks (assuming you are going insurace claims on them) Id strip out the goodies and keep them boxed on shelf for spares for the next one, (And/orlend out in emergancies).
If your brissy and skint Im happy to help where I can ESP if its mounted to a disco as I dont have a lot or real life experience on swapping td5s out of discos tdi, + v8 yes but not the td5

who did the work?

Ouch. You are having a bad run!
Were both engines in the same vehicle? If it was a replacement motor would it be covered by warranty?

This doesnt have anything to do with the oil pump bolt that td5,s seem to suffer from:cool:

There is / was plenty of oil in the motor, had been
keeping an eye on things while it was going...
Yes both motors in same car....
It was a low k 2nd hand motor... now very 2nd
hand... I was on the way to my mechanic for
a 1000k check over... had only been in a couple
of weeks.. no insurance claim on motor, a warrenty
claim though... Blknight i'm in W.A. but thanks for
your offer

Why is it that all the TD5s that go boobs up that I might have a chance of playing with are in WA?

It's a feature of the ECU. They know where your GPS is and only go bang when the distance is to great.
