Geez, you didn't muck around, def90.
That was lotsa fun and turned out to be quite warm...
Thanks all, nice to meet you.
Can't believe how easy drivesafes Rangie made the creek climb out track look. (or the D3s for that matter).
Need some serious rain to make it really interesting!

Drivesafe et al,
Thanks for a great day. The boys and I felt very welcome and everyone was so polite to not comment on my amateur 4WD techniques!
Special thanks to Justine for getting my two lads some exercise!

A nice sunday drive. The camera bag was in the back but I didn't take any photos or vids at all in the end. I was too busy playing nav for Sue.
What amateur 4WD techniques? You climbed the hill didn't you. You didn't break anything. Boys had smiles on their dials. Job well done. PM coming at ya.

Easy when all you have to do is press a button and steer! And yes, the boys thought it was FANTASTIC. Only problem was they were disappointed I didn't floor it up the hill like the Freelander.

..problem was they were disappointed I didn't floor it up the hill like the Freelander.
:D Sue always hits the loud pedal at the first call, but I had to shout back off 3 times as she crested the steeper one, lest we'd argued with some rocks & lost.

was a good day ,nice change of pace for me, finally a trip where I didnt need to actually get the spanners out.
Ok once to do a quick diagnose on a disco v8 as the driver was worried about a noise but i was only using it as a stethescope and it wasnt my spanner so it doesnt count...
Came up with a new theory too...
we all know that electricy and water dont mix, thats why petrol v8s dont ford so well..
We also know that the new td5 has electronic control of the most important part of the diesel cycle, the fuel injection..
Landrovers know this and so develop a leak in the system that places oil in the wiring to prevent water ingress, preventing water drown outs thus making the vehicle more capable.
Clever buggers them landrovers.....

Amazing isn't it; it's the middle of August and I'm sunburnt... Mr (shy) 13 yo, who had his first drive today,
has already flaked out...
BTW: Thanks to Tim, Harry and of course, Inc.
My photos are, well, er, so what, but the video material of him having his first drive is priceless!
Now he wants one...
...just out of curiosity, what were your total door-to-door kilometres today?
I ran up 240 ks...

Wish I got a pic of you going up 'the hill' !!!
how much dust did you get in your Disco?:D:D
Good pics!
Photos at a decent size: have a look here search for threads (instructions) using 'photobucket', which seems to work very well.
Funny sight on the way home dept: A holden rodeo single cab 4x4 lwb with a full cage over the tray; in the cage was a horse, a live one standing upright; who needs a horse float? (how good would the centre of gravity be? crikey!)

Thanks to everyone for the day. Was great to see some of you from the last run and to meet some new faces.

Thats the kind of pic I was talking about when I was suggesting the flying V coming over the hill...
picture that but with 1 car in the center (make it a freebie or the D90 then getting pogressively larger as the go out and back to maintain scale with 8/9 cars a side with another flying V in the middle like a command group say the 2 conspiritors that did convoy command, TEC and the big ass rangie that was there
Looking something like
X___________X
_X___X_X___X
__X___X___X
___X_____X
____X___X
_____X_X
______X
______|
______|
______|
______V (DIRECTION OF TRAVEL)
______Camera
I know the idea was thought o be dangerous due to spaceing but from the rough pic you can see that each car maintains about a cars distance from one another.
maybe one that we can prep up for pre cooma so that we can do an AULRO poster? one with the cars, one with the drivers on outside the car and then another one done up with just the drivers and done close enough so you can make out people....
Not sure if it would work well with 20+ people but it does look good when you do it with 11 Bushies.

Hi folks, this is the unofficial trip report.
We got up early, BLOODY EARLY, first lot met at Nerang, drove west to meet the second lot at Beaudesert, then drove south, met the third lot and had fun.
Now if you weren’t there, it’s not much use trying to tell you how good it was.
Cheers and thats it. ( for now );)
PS please note the time this was posted and I have already been down to the local 24 hour car wash.:(

Hi folks, I suppose I had better give a half decent trip report.
First things first, I would to give a big thanks to harry for all his help both with this the reeces and as Tail End Charley, on Sunday.
I would like to thank Loaded for jumping in and helping as Tail End Charley for a few kms when I stuffed up ( can’t count )
And a special thanks to Outlaw for crawling out of his sick bed to help with the BBQ ( and yes he DID remember to ring the gas this time ).
Well as posted, it was a ( BLOODY ) early start and if I thought I had it bad, the poor folks from up north had to rise even earlier.
The Gold Coasters meet up at Nerang and then made our way to Beaudesert where we meet up with a much bigger crowd.
After a few pictures and a short tutorial, we were on our way and by this time we had 18 vehicles in convoy.
We got to the Border Spiral Loop Lookout with literally seconds to spare as the XPT was on time ( surprise, surprise ).
By this time we had picked up three more vehicles from down south ( Mexicans )
After watching the XPT run round the mountain and off into the distance, we headed off for our first bit of off roading.
Harry had found a nice easy water crossing and of those that had a go, no one had the slightest problem.
After our water play and a quick shamble over which direction we were going, we headed off back over the range and to a main play area.
After a few photo runs and the likes, the games began with everybody heading off in different directions for different obstacle courses.
The many photos posted will have already given those poor unlucky ones an idea of what they missed out on.
Even the dust didn’t deter anybody from having a go at what ever the heart desired and all had loads of fun while quite a few found out just how easy it was to do things with their vehicles they never thought they would try.
This is exactly what the day was intended to be all about.
We then settled down to some lunch and then people started going their separate ways.
I was nacked so with a few others, headed back to the coast, others headed north and south, while a few hardy travellers made there way over to Duck Creek for even more off roading.
From all reports everybody had a great day and the best thing of all, NOT ONE SINGLE DING TO ADD TO THE GCLRO Club DING Tally.
Thats how I like it.
Cheers and thanks to everybody for making it a great day out.
PS, I’ll try to origins another social run and BBQ for about early December.
