Hi Tim,

Had a look and not being very technical so will ask the following questions:


Im assuming I need another battery (idea of rough cost) and there is room under the bonnet for it?
With my current 12v plug at the back, is that where I would run say my fridge from via the dual battery?
Also who would you recommend to do the install as there is no way I would try it.Thanks mate,

Mine arrived yesterday, so will be fitting at the weekend (Assuming my spare deep cycle battery fits the space!)

Looks nicely done, so should be a 20 min "plug and play" install with any luck.

Hi Stevo, to fit the Plug & Play kits you do not require any auto electrical experience at all and if you can use a drill and can drill two 1/8 inch holes in plastic the the only other tools you will need is a small shifter or a metric socket set and a pair of side cutters to cut of the excess bits of the wire ties.

Thats it, no modifications to the D3 and the slowest part of the install is reading the instructions.

As for the socket in the back, it only works while the ignition is on so if you want full time power in the rear cargo area, you will need to take it to an auto elec and I have one here on the coast I can recommend.

Ok I had a squizz as to where the other battery would go, so is it a normal battery that you buy or a "special" one. Chances are if you know someone who can power it to the back socket, I would get them to do the lot. Im assuming that you would need the back socket hence the purpose of the dual battery? I just really want to be able to run my fridge no problems when I am away camping and not have to worry about charging the portable one I have and use that for other things.

On mine I'm going to add a socket to the rear off the aux battery, and ideally change one of the front ones to be "always on" and come off the aux battery as well, as I don't want to make more holes in the dash. Oh, plus a UHF somewhere when I work out where to put it.

Don’t forget to take lots of pictures jik22 and here’s some advanced info, in the not too distant future AULRO site will have a D3 dedicated section so get all your D3 info and how-tos ready.

Hi folks, there have been a couple of cosmetic changes made to the SC40LR Plug-&-Play kit and the way it is installed.

The installation no longer requires the drilling of any holes to fit the kit and the installation time should work out to be even shorter.

Also, the kit now comes with all the instructions, and quite a few pictures to aid in the installation, as a PDF file on a CD.

The same upgrades will be made to the SC80-LR Plug-&-Play kit in the next week or so.

Hi Drivesafe,
Please keep me informed as to when the modified SC80-LR kit becomes available.

I also note that, while the SC80 kit was specified for "multi" batteries, the only info on your site related to "dual battery" installation.

I want to run both the starting battery & two deep cycle batteries (one in the car & one in the caravan). I hope that you will advise me how to accomplish this.
