Air con help on my defender

Hi all

Can anybody point me in the direction of a air con mob in Brisbane (pref southside) that are capable of doing non standard mods????

The reason is, I am wanting to fit an air con out of a minibus to the Defender, I have spoken to one mob who are happy to do the job but a trying to rip me off. ie the evaporator they would use would cost $1200 ish from them, I can buy the same unit over the counter for $500.

I cant see why I cant do all the install, pipes etc and just have it gassed. I just need some one to say that I need this, this and this, I'll buy it over the counter.

Beeing a autosparky I'll try and help with some info,
Major parts in a a/c system, compressor, condenser, reciever drier and evaporator assy[includes tx valve]. Refrigerant flows in that order to. The way I see it if u fitted all the big bits [those mentioned above] takeing into account hose access etc. you could then take it to your local a/c man and have him make up the hoses [special crimping tool needed to crimp fittings to hoses] fit them and gas the system. Anyone working with a/c systems these days needs to hold a refrigerant handling licence but since he would be doing the "sealing up" of the system and the gassing I cant see a problem with doing some of the fittment your self.;);
