The best LCD's are Dell or Apple and you can get a 22" Widescreen flat panel monitor from Dell for $449 so you may be lucky and pick one up on Ebay for the $$$ you're after.

I've got an Asus which is great. Colour is perfect, inbuilt webcam, speakers, USB and firewire ports. See the link below.

just got an asus 22" widescreen not as flashy as the one you got but was 399. so right on my limit could of had an acer for 350 but just didn't look as nice not that much to pick between them except asus got a 2ms refresh acer got 6

anyway got to be better than the 15" one i'm using at the moment

I bought a 22" WS AOC Monitor only a couple of months ago - AOC are one of the biggest monitor / panel makers in the world, OEM manufacturers!!!

I paid $350 and WELL impressed, we used 19" Dell in work and this AOC puts it to shame in clarity etc.

as I have a home office I tend to change my monitors every 2 years (even thought they have 3 year warranty) and still come out ahead and keep in touch with the technology.

I have a Benq 21" and quite happy. Don't recall the $ but it was quite a few months back and as you know with 'puters n stuff. Wait a few months and they're cheaper. I seem to recall it was >$400 tho.

LG always seem to make pretty good quality stuff for a reasonable price. The current wide screen modes are nice.

AOC made excellent CRT's never had an AOC LCD.

Only LCD I was dissapointed in was a BenQ 19" it had dark patches in the corners, but we only have about 6 so maybe just that model?

maybe Inc may be able to source an AOC for you?

try AOC LCD Monitor Australia & New Zealand (http://www.aocmonitor-anz.com/) but also try on eBay as they appear on suppliers shops all the time.
