There is no alternative that I know of. Last one I got, a year ago, was $50 from Fred Smith in Melbourne. Still not cheap, but better than that!

repco say they have a listing and that there is nothing special about them and $14...i emphasised, does it list landrover with 4bd1 and he said yes....so i am off to repco...

I bought mine just the other week from Isuzu (Major Motors in Perth) and it was $64.71+GST so just over $70... ouch! :(

As well as that I bought a new rubber 'O' gasket which was another $6.98 +GST.

Still a bit cheaper than your dealer quoted, but not as good as the Repco price :D

By comparison, I just bought a new airfilter main element which is a genuine Donaldson item (bloody massive thing) and it was only $28 incl GST - bargain in my book

The one I got for my Isuzu County with a 4BD1 (non turbo) is part no: P900433, two places quoted me the list price as $34.01 + GST.

When I went to pick one up from Hitachi Construction Machinery in Welshpool (Perth) they gave me a 25% discount! I didn't even ask - I must just look like a tight git! :D:D

Looks like they all charge a different price. I got one at Brisbane Isuzu for $53 including the rubber seal. The LR dealer quoted $84. Repco ans Supercheap both listed one but it was not correct, being a small item like a standard passenger car type.

Funny you should say that, when I was at the Isuzu dealers buying my thermostat they looked at the specific parts book for 4BD1's in Land Rovers. The first thermostat they came back with was a tiny one too, luckily I had my old one with me and they went away and brought out the correct one. Could there be two fitments?

I'll measure it later today as I haven't fitted it yet.

Figured I'd go all the way with the cooling system and fit new hoses (which came in a box with the car) and get the radiator re-cored as well (which is now done... please don't ask $$$'s I'm still cryin' :BigCry::BigCry::eek2:)

Like I've said before, your a bloke worth knowing !! :D:D;)

It was the radiator re-core that started the tears for me though :(

There is only one size thurmostat for the 4BD1, and turboed engines run the same one.

$70 for the thermostat here in Cairns, from Isuzu (Holden), last price for a radiator recore from Natrad was $950:eek::eek::eek::eek:, so mines running on two less tubes=no noticeable difference in max temp, even on a superhot/heavy work run:D:D:D:D.

I picked up a primary air filter today. Stopped in at cummins spares and got a fleet guard equivalent (AF4059K) for under $40. looks to be the right part. Different bottom seal, but doesn't seem to be a fit issue

I just purchased a new air filter for $70.00  I thought it was a bit on the dear side.

I cleaned out the old one and found a frog, a stick , a dragonfly and a load of dust and rubbish :D I've put a piece of flyscreen at the top of the snorkel now to help stop the invaders.
