Hi all...

One of my tyres decided to depart this world by blowing a big hole in the side-wall (Cooper AT's) on a kerb in front of my house :(

Needless to say I need a spare tyre.

Does anyone have a Freelander tyre lying around they don't need (original size is fine - the 215/75 Coopers are a tad wider than the original 195/80)??

Or can anyone point me to a place in Sydney where I can get one cheaply??

Don't want a new Cooper as I am not sure if I want to keep these when the time will come to change as I might look for 16 inch alloys to replace the original 15 inch steelies....

Thanks ...

I can't help with your tyre but be very careful about what size you fit.
All 4 tyres MUST have the same rolling diamter otherwise the rear diff and/or IRD will protest loudly (and expensively).

Actually, I can help with a tyre but you sound like you're in a hurry for one.
I don't have it in Sydney & I'm not sure when I'll be visiting my "shed" outside Sydney next.

I have a set of 15" on genuine alloys with standard size worn tyres (one good one) in my garage but they are in Canberra:(. As it will be the spare - why can't you just buy cheap tyre or a second hand one. As Scouse says - tyres need to be the same size and then roughly the same wear - it upsets the VC causing it to bind and on bitumen causing transmission windup and then IRD issues.

Funny enough I've got a set of 5 x 16" alloys (no tyres) in Campbelltown that I want to replace with a set of 5 x 15" alloys. Perhaps garrycol, Turtle61 and myself can have game of swaps. If you guys interested email me at defender130@hotmail.com.

Call around the local tyre places for a second hand one, or check the trading post, there's usually a few second hand tyre dealer who advertise in there.

Thanks guys for all your replies.

I ended up getting a second-hand tyre just as a spare to get me out of trouble. It is original size which is very close to the 215/75s I have... good enough for city emergency.
