The little tabs along the top of my series 1 88 windscreen - the tabs that the softop eyelets fit over - have all broken off. I can obviously find another windscreen but has anyone any ideas on where to get these and how best to weld them back on. My car is knackered but original and complete so I want to stay original rather than using something else like press studs.
Thanks

Your best bet is to find another windscreen frame - the frame is galvanised so it will need to be regalvanised if you weld them back on. Which, of course is possible; and if doing a top notch restoration you may even be thinking of regalvanising all the bits that are galvanised, in which case there are no minuses to welding them back on - probably simply electric welding, although I think originally they may have been spot welded.

On the later models (S2 at least) they were on a seperate strip...maybe you could go that way and put on a strip somehow instead of going a whole new windscreen.
I don't think they were on the Series 1, but it could be the way to go.

No they weren't on the S1.
You might have to grind off the remnants of the old ones if you wanted to use the strip.
You can't use a Series 2/3 strip - the Series 1 windscreen is wider at the top. But maybe you could use one as a pattern to do something similar.

Thanks to you both - the option to locate another windscreen frame will be the go - not an issue at the moment just one of the things on the list - I have a hardtop I can put on so may not be an issue - haven't made up my mind whether to go with the top or go topless.

Windscreens are usually plentiful as most people who restore an S1 use at least 2. I from the bush with a knackered body and 1 from the coast with a rusty chassis.
You probably need to ask in a location where lots of S1 people are talking which doesn't seem to be on the AULRO for what ever reason that is. :wasntme:
Have you tried Jim Pearl on Russell Island - he seems to have all the S1 contacts up Brisvegas way - Ph:0428 732 001 and has a restored 107.

Thanks missus - I have a few options to consider - as you suggest I could make up some with gal strip and get them spot welded on - this a bit of gal coloured paint to touch up as required - good as new.
I would like to leave baby topless but the weather down here is too extreme so the hardtop might go on so it might not be an issue.
