Was bad at work today

The other tech and one of the trainers have been testing the new servers all week. Each day it has failed with errors so the tech has been trying to find out what is wrong with the settings.

This afternoon our boss goes through some issues with us and also lectured us about proper records on upgrades. Afterwards the three of us go through what is happening with the new servers. As soon as I see what the problem is I go back to the test bed and try it with no hassles. I then log into the new servers and try it and low and behold it happens.
At this point I confess I can see what the problem is and know how to fix it. Load a couple of patches into the server and presto fault is gone.
I had forgotten to run an update last week on the database they were using to test the new servers.
I then told the tester that there was no problem and to try again:D:D:D.

at least you don't blame someone else, I run a fair size 1st/2nd/3rd level helpdesk for a gov agency and it always is my fault when somethings busted as we always get the blame even for things we don't have access to! The top guys never make a booboo or even are kind enough to just say try again :( We need ppl like you :)

Yea I even ring our users at tell them that their error is due to something that I'm doing when it interferes with their work. Just wish we had adequate resources and support.
That's why the boss wasn't to upset. Just said I had earned an extra days pay for fixing it but he would also dock a days pay for causing it so break even.
