I just bought a role of gasket paper from supercheap, it was quite thick, not that paper thin stuff.
One other thing, make sure you get nyloc nuts for the bolts and make sure they are as tight as you can get them. If you could get some small hex head bolts that would be better, the screw driver head ones are to hard to get tight, i am going to have to pull mine off and re-tighten them. Langy did his and his hasnt leaked a drop, not sure what the bolts he used were though. matt

G'day Ace & Amshaw :)
I would suggest that you use "Allen Head" screws(hex slotted), and a little Loctite threadlock;)
cheers

Oh ok, can you explain a little more why you prefer to use Allen heads screws :)
Can you get to the pump from under the Disco, or better to break your back leaning into the enginebay ;)

Well its done.......Took 2.5hrs inc Lunch break...:o
As you have stated Matt ,its very easy to do....;)
But a small tip to anybody doing this for the first time.....make sure you make the holes in the gaskets big enough for the bolts........
Yeah stupid question really about doing it from underneath (Its a knob Jocky thing:p), I forgot how high the pump sits.......
Also another issue was trying to get around all that crap near the pump, cables , tubes, auto dip tube & hose's etc..........:(
But happy with the job, and brakes seem to be a bit more positive.....or is that just wishful thinking......;)

In reading this i wonder is the leak a oil leak or a leak of vacume , meaning reduced braking , my brake pedal is very good but lacks braking needs alot of foot pressure , as if the vacume booster is not there , it does feel like the booster is working first time the brakes are applied ,but if constant pressure is used it needs ALOT and i mean ALOT more foot pressure:D

doing the fix made a huge difference to my brakes. I am in the same boat as rangieman at the moment i think i need to take mine off again and use hex nuts as i dont think the phillips head ones i used are tight enough. Matt

Im happy with the hex nuts, I just worked my way around all the bolts about 4 times to get them very tight.
Checked the pump today after a long drive, no leaks and even the wife noted the brakes are better, which Im surprised me as she is a blonde.......:o:p:wasntme:
thanks again Ace your a legend.....:)

Matt, just wondering whats the history on the pump fix?......did you just pull yours apart and thought of the fix while it was on the bench?
Its just so simple, something Im not used to working on our Disco.......
Also is it ok if I pass that page to a few mates who will be interested in having a look?

I was actually talking to Roverone and he had said he did it ages ago so i pulled it of and had a look, then went from there, he didnt give me much info just that he pulled it off and drilled the rivets i worked the rest out.
Pass it on to who ever you like mate, the more people it saves money the better. matt
