Ok, I've seen your pics of your cars with big tyres on - now what's your secret ?? I went to a tyre place today and inquired about swapping my 235/70/16's over to 235/85/16's but was told they would rub on everything !!!! So how have you done it and have you had any problems ?? I have a 96 V8 auto if that makes any difference ?
Thanks

Hmmm so that size is about 32x9.5
Will need to trim the corners on your guards, 2" lift and adjust your steering stops a bit.
That should do it

Yep trim about 2" at the bottom rear of the rear guards and just take a straight line up to the arch, 2" suspention lift and if you dont want to rubb every now and then on the front hockey sticks then adjust the bump stops.
I have 235 85 16 on mine and thats all Ive done.

I say, make the bastards fit :twisted::twisted::twisted:
As all have mentioned, sone trimming and a 2 inch springh lift will do it. They will touch on full compression but nothing too serious. My 285/75's rub all ovetr the place on ful compression and I have a 40mm body lift as well plus a 40mm spring lift.

Put them on then take a run down a bumpy track, there will soon be room in the guards for them :p.

If you have a D2, no trimming required, i have 235/85/16s on my D2.
I have seen them on stock D2s, but ideally a 2" lift would help, or 245/75/16 will fit too.
D1 will need a guard trim though:(

I have just had them fitted to my disco, i had already trimmed the rear guards to run 31/10.5/15in muddies. I have already got a 2in lift, and have done othing to the bump stops at the front and mine fit perfectly. Havent been off road with full articulation yet but they seem to fit just as well as the 31i muddies i was running which were wider. Matt

Mine is a series 1 so looks I have to start cutting !! I already have the 2" lift - do you have to fit flares or anything once the guards are trimmed ?

Not too much though!
You only need to do a "camel cut" and all will be well...
No flares etc needed.....

not sure what he means by camel cut but all i did with mine was measure along the bottom of the guard 8cm back towards the rear of the car, then worked out where inside the arch the tyres were rubbing and drew a line diagonally up the guard, i didnt bother curving mine, doesnt look like new but it doesnt rub any more. matt
