How many civilian stage 1 landrovers were built with the Isuzu...was the V8 more popular???i find it interesting that it would seem we are only a few who are lucky enough to own these vehicles........ ?

No idea how many - but Stage 1s of any kind were not very big sellers - I think they may have been too expensive. Also, most Landrover buyers by then were after a traditional Landrover, like the one they had before - the majority of those looking for higher performance were buying Jap 4x4s

In my experience the Isuzus are more common than the V8s, although I suspect that it depends on the location - more V8s in the cities, probably, and also probably more Isuzus in tray tops, especially the 120, but more V8s in the station wagons and hard tops.

A while ago REMLR was given a sheet showing the series 3 production in Australia. Obviously we were interested in the Army Series 3's, but it also had information on the Stage 1's. By the looks of the listing that I have it does not include the station wagons.

CIVIL 109 V8 ALLOY TRAY 4
CIVIL 109 V8 C/C 5
CIVIL 109 V8 H/T 18
CIVIL 109 V8 STEEL TRAY 6
CIVIL 109 V8 UTE 1

CIVIL 109 4D ALLOY TRAY 2
CIVIL 109 4D C/C 3
CIVIL 109 4D STEEL TRAY 22
CIVIL 109 4D H/T 74
CIVIL 109 4D UTE 7

However my list of 5296 vehicles has 2612 unknown vehicles. Now I don't know oif those unknowns were wagons, but I believe the wagons were built in the UK and shipped here whole, but I may be wrong.

Interestingly I have information on chassis numbers, colour, engine numbers etc, and only Camino Gold, Bahama Gold and Sahara Dust are listed as colours on these vehicels, so the reds and whites must have been either in the unknowns, or brought in painted that.

At least at some periods during Australian Landrover assembly station wagons were fully imported, going right back to the 107. In fact, I would not be surprised if all wagons have been imported rather than knocked down kits. I rather doubt if the large number of unknowns was all wagons, but may have included other imported vehicles, probably including other models that were not sold individually in large number (e.g. 88s) or simply making up shortages. Or simply reflect poor record keeping or lost records!

I presume the figures (5296, 2612) you give are total of Series 3 not just Stage 1?

Sorry, yes, totals of series 3, not the stage 1
