Was browsing the motor section this arvo in the newsagent.Seen the latest Overlander, had a quick glance thru it and whilst adjust my grip on it,I happened to glimpse the back page. LR are advertising the the new Defender 2.
Does anyone know when they are in the showrooms:question: :)

Haven't heard it called that - there are a couple of threads about it on this forum already, and from memory the latest information is November. There is a UK spec one already here that I saw at Penrith in July, and I assume it is doing the rounds of shows etc.

If you do a search on "2007 Defender" you'll find something.
They are due here in October/November. Price for a 110 is approx $53K.

Local dealer here in Canberaa said the same, 'bout Oct/Nov. Also mentioned something about the delays being due to the fact they are looking at putting the td5 back in , although I havn't been able to find any info anywhere about this. Added too that on road would be looking at closer to 60k , so not too sure where he is getting his info or how well informed he is ;)

I've got the LR price list in front of me (from the Adelaide dealer).
110 details are:
- Retail Price $50,200
- Rego $728
- Stamp Duty $1969
- On road price $52,897

BTW - can't believe the 'refitting the TD5' idea. Doesn't seem like a likely thing at all.

My thoughts exactly, after the work they've done getting it in there seemed like quite an odd thing to say. As for the prices, he seemed hell bent on the fact that although the base price was the same, on-road costs here were rather high..

Smells a bit like bovine poo to me... ;)
The TD5 is not being produced anymore... On top of that, the TD5 doesn't meet current emissions regs.

G'day Littlecub53,
The new Defender (called Defender 2 in the UK) is coming out late October/early November to Australia. RRP is $48,990.00 in Australia. Engine is a Puma TDCi (Turbo Diesel Common Rail injection) aka Ford Transit, although its also in plenty of other vehicles.

Are you certain it was the Landy salesman and not the Jeep salesman? The Jeep salesman will tell you Land Rovers are not for off road:Rolling::Rolling:
