Quite intriguing this one - clearly promoting the macho, quiet achiever, hard working lifestyle guy/gal image...

Apologies if anyone has already seen it...

Makes you want to buy one new.

Would you buy the used Defender that launched the rubber duck .

Yep was thinking same thing - imagine the corrosion from being rammed in backwards like that all for dramatic effect. Waste of a good vehicle...

Was that a 110 dual cab I saw in there? I didn't appreciate they were actuially made.

To add insult to injury, the 110 dual cab is available in NZ! Makes it hard to understand why we only get one model.

While there is lots of interest in used fenders virtually no one buys them new - you just have to look at the monthly registration figures. Why is that so - personally I would like to see the defender substantially updated to bring it in to the 21st century as far as the body and dynamics are concerned - capability could still be maintained - but that is just my view.

As the second hand market is alive and well it indicates the problem more likely lies not with the car but the way it is marketed - model availability, pricing, advertising would all make a difference - an all new model with new body and looks would help - yeah I know many of you say you love the way it looks - well why aren't you buying them new - 10 new car sales a month is awful - even the Freelander sells 60.

New car, better marketing, more models, better after sales support would put the Defender back where it should be - at the top:D.

Well I am going to buy one, even though the price is pretty unreasonable for what you get. I want it as a "20 year" car, and I hope it will still be going stong in 2027.

Most people want a 4WD with all the stuff that comes in your standard Commodore/Falcon range. That's why the Disco sells so well, even though it is premium priced. Also, most people buy a car to keep it for 3/4/5 years. If it falls apart after that - who cares, it's not going to be theirs when it happens.

The vast majority of people don't want to do hard core 4WD. They want to drive on the beach twice a year in their Xmas holidays, so they don't need all that capability.

If a 110 was $40K they would sell buckets of them. They seem overpriced compared to the Jap offerings (when you take their longevity out of the equation). The 6-speed box is a good improvement and the interiour looks more civilised, so maybe this will tempt a few more people away from LandCruisers and Patrols.

If I could go and pre order a 110 duel cab today I would have been waiting at the dealers door this morning. I wonder how much a special order would be?
