I was going to head to Fraser Island in a couple of weeks, but my wife has just pointed out that this will be Qld school holidays. Can anyone who lives up that way, or has visited during holidays, give any comment on wether it gets really busy and we'd be better off visiting some other time??

I went ther just after New Years. While some parts were busy (think Eli Creek), other parts were deserted (inland tracks, walking trails, etc). I guess it depends on how busy is too busy for you.

It will be busy as it is Tailor season (east coast fishing).
Also check with the National Park's people if you plan to camp,

as most of the popular campsites would be booked well in advance.
There are resorts on the Island but it will be expensive to stay in these.
