Does anyone have or know where I can source the RSS to programme a Motorola Gm950 Plus VHF Radio? I have the cables and RIB.
I have downloaded three versions off the net but each time I install them, it states upon clicking Setup.exe, 'Cannot find .DAT file'. I would have thought this would occur with perhaps one source but not three different ones.
Anyone think it's not the software but my PC?
Any information would be great.
Thanks,
Peter

I tried similar some time ago with a gp portable and then some other gp mobiles and various cps I found on the net. I got the sw running ok, but they failed to read both mobiles and the portable I had. MRola is finicky as you are finding out, and working sw is hard to find. All I can suggest is that it generally likes an OS of win98 and you have a better chance if you use an older PC which has slower IO rates. I occasionly visit some comms guys, and they program motorola with an old laptop running win95. (And no I didn't ask them for sw - they are friendly but they are a business after all). In the end I went Philips and Tait, which is dead easy to program. If you can post which rss/cps you have ( a R number ie R 00.00.0001 etc) you can have what other bits I have, but it's highly probable that it may not work with the gm950.
Approaching MRola is, well, problematic at best. They get awfully weird when you ask them for sw. Either they straight out won't sell it or charge both arms and both legs.

I believe the version I have is R02.00.00
I found and tested the GM950 sw but it's not compatible with the 'Plus' radios. My PC is about 7 years old, running Win98 so I'm lucky I've got one thing going for me.
I was on the look out for an Icom radio but this Motorola radio came to me for an offer I couldn't refuse so I'll persist with it.
Thanks,
Peter

You may have to get a service agent to programme it for you as I know Motorola restrict who has the programming software. We have hundred of radios on site on VHF.
Remember if you do get the software and programme channels that are not public or paid for frequencies and are caught there are huge fines involved.

Thanks Waynep!
I'm still waiting on a solution from a few contacts but as you can all appreciate, when someone is doing something on the slide for you...you wait!
I have two VHF GM950Plus units which are programmed with our LROCV frequency which we are legally allowed to use - the Club is a Licence holder and make us sub-licencees.
Ultimately I just want to programme the frequency into 2 other 950Plus radios I have as spares and perhaps CFA Rx only.
If the solution works, I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Peter
