anywhere in the Kimberleys Western Australia...this place is magic, especially Cape Leveque on the Dampier Peninsula.

anywhere on the Nullarbor particularly on the coastal fringe, south of the highway.

i love the isolation. both of these places you can go for weeks without seeing another soul. the cool desert nights around a camp fire, exploring throughout the day. Vehicle totally prepared and packed, left civilisation behind...its amazing how well you harmonize with your environment when you leave the clocks, deadlines, concrete, fences, behind.

If I just want somewhere quiet and peaceful, I can't go past Bendethra Valley in Deua National Park.
That's not just because it is only 70km from home, nor because the road in is just difficult enough to keep out some of the riff raff, but because you can camp there at the same time as a dozen other groups and not be aware of their presence.
The valley was cleared in about the middle of the 19th century, so now there is a 4km long section of the river with a couple of dozen places you can camp right on the Deua River without seeing anyone who might be camping a couple of hundred metres up or down the river. If you don't want to camp right beside the river there is space for another several dozen groups.
The Kimberleys is a magic part of the world.
Spring Creek on the Bullita Stock route in Gregory NP has the best private, natural swimming hole I have ever seem.
Come to think of it, there are a lot of magic spots in Australia.

Alan, looks like we both think alike, looks like the spot I usually camp at Bendethra, I also like Dry Creek, I usually travel into Bendethra from Dry reek and along Mericumbene then down to Bendethra and it's all so close, magic, Regards Frank.

I'll add a third to Bendethra valley, I've been heading in and out of there since the early 80s, magic spot.

Gets a bit crowded at easter, but then again 'crowded' is relative.

Vic High country again here! So many good spots- I wouldn't even know the names of them!

A place in NE country Vic, not to far from a town called Swanpool, is the Mt Lindsay camp site. Fresh creek running past it and lots of good 4wd and motorbike tracks. Seems a bit to popular these days though.

And again in NE Vic, On the edge of Lake Nillahcootie/ Sandy Creek. Out of sight, but close to main roads and towns (30km to big towns, 10 km to small ones). Not very well known which is good! Had some absolute ripper camps there!
