G'Day Gang,
Im thinking about replacing the canvas on our great little Dingo 6x4 Off road camper.

Its my Birthday on the 20th (Thursday) and the wife cant work out what to get me, so I said put the money towards new canvas :p.

By the Looks of it the camper has been up the center a few time's, but doesnt leak at the mo, but its just warn out a bit inc the zips etc....:( But I still really like it.

I was thinking about selling it and buying something a little bigger, but I only paid 2 grand for it so if it costs $2k for new canvas it is still a cheap camper in my view.....;)

Ive been given a rough price of around the $1,500 mark for the job.

Before I go into it more can anybody give me a run down the the differant grades of canvas used please?

Its just I like to know what Im paying for ie I dont mind pay more for a better grade or if its thicker etc.......

I have some pics of our camper here from our weekend away to Halls Gap....On pages 3-4 http://www.flickr.com/photos/11418598@N08/ just in case your interested :)

All the good quality campers have a minimum 12oz or 14.5oz wall and 16oz rip proof roof, of coarse this will bring the price up.

How many doors and windows effect the price too, the more you have the dearer the top.

If your only paying $1500 to $2500 for a top then it will have 8oz or 10oz walls and maybe a 12oz roof.

Most good quality tops will be $3500 to $4500

My camper has 15oz canvas all over.

However I'm sure there is differing grades of 15oz canvas depending on brand etc.

I think just the top from the place that I got my camper from was $3500 but that includes far more than just the canvas (poles, frame, base etc).

The women that may do the job is very cheap, more than 1/2 what the others change.......if you can get them to do it at all .

She does a great neat job, very very honest and has no problem at all if you need to change things around a bit.

I just dont know about the weights of the canvas etc, so thanks for the input, at least now Ive got a better idea of what its about :)
