Well Merv and I have a toy 2 door 81 rangie. We have decided to start building it up a bit better than what it is now encouraged by how well the old girl did in the Mud, Guts and Glory competion in WA a few weeks ago.

What I can tell you about the car so far:

- 4.6 litre motor built by Brians engineering in Brisbane (the original owner is telling us 225 hp ... dunno but she goes)
- electronic ignition
- Twin ARB lockers
- LRA 2.5 inch body lift (done by us)
- 36" super swampers
- 127 litre custom aluminium fuel tank
- twin thermo fans
- custom front bar
- rocksliders
- dual batts

We bought it for a good price and had a 77 Rover thrown in for spares. Also in the process of collecting a 84 Rover for more spares.

The running gear, shocks, springs etc... are all pretty much stock. We were amazed that the axles lasted the weekend festivities and this was more luck than good management.

Sitting in the shed we have new springs, rollbar, racing seats, EFI system, New 36" super swampers with Staun internal beadlocks all ready to go.

On order from Rovercraft we have the following:

Front Toyota conversion kit
Rear Toyota conversion kit
Damper relocation kit
high clearance track rod
HD trailing arms

Once these are received and fitted we will add to them:

New shocks
New custom 2.5" exhaust with resinator only
Air compressor in rear of aircon motor
New paint job (matt black)

Next week it starts with a full rewire of the engine bay and we are going to bring as many relays, battery switch etc... into the car itself to defeat Lord Lucas (who those who saw the pics on here know defeated us a few times). This will make a huge difference we hope.

Lucky for us with a good showing we have managed to attract 4 sponsors who are happy to give us some folding stuff to play with our toy. More are welcome !!!!

I am sure Dave will remind me of anything I have forgotten

Quite likely. A stock 4.6 high compression (9.35:1) GEMS engine from a P38A gives 225 ps (221 BHP).

Just a quick apology.

All the running gear we have purchased from the USA is of course from Keith at rovertracks ...

Keith I dunno whether you missed it or were just being polite :)

Well guys it's been a long time since I have been working on the RRC. But we have decided to go in Mud guts and Glory this year (after I only finished two weeks ago getting last years mud out of it) so we have got busy and started working on it. At the moment the RR looks like a bomb has hit it but we have been working.

We have bobtailed last weekend our little princess. In the next 4 weeks we have alot of toys (already purchased) to install such as:

New aluminium dash with switches/gauges
Full (full) CAMS approved rewire with everything electrical now in the cab
CAMS approved roll cage
Racing seats with harnesses
Safarigard 3 link suspension kit
Rovertracks extreme duty toyota conversion kit
80 series hi pinion front diff and v6 hilux rear diff with ARB lockers
4.88 ring and pinion set for above
36 x 12.5 sumperswampers locked on high-impact external beadlockers
EFI bolted on with multicoil ... bye bye lord lucas
gigglepin rear trailing arms
llama4x4 11" extreme shock kit
QT A frame joint
New paintjob
New nice checker plate finish to the outside corners etc.
Custom rear bar (basic)
New floor pans on both sides
new rear floor
Lightforce 240's
New lights all round

so all of the above is to go in and there is about 8 weeks or so until scrutineering so it's all go.

have attached the bobtail done on Sunday morning. Got the tig cranked for Friday to finish that part off and then the work really begins

All I need now is some new Aulro stickers as our old ones went with the windows!

Hi Lokka

Yeah Safarigard of old was a worry. Now they have a new man Scott from Sterling Rovers selling them. They still pretty much make to order so you need to be patient.

We bought ours through Locktup 4x4 International (http://www.locktup4x4.com.au) who are a good crowd for ordering ex usa as they have an office in California somewhere

This weekend saw the roof refitted, the car primed and painted (enough to stand the 5 metre test) and the dash and electrics begun. Also disconnected the handbrake in preference to a line locker.

Thanks Landy. Mudnguts is at the same property this year on fathers day weekend 6/7 September.

I think it's going to be a huge one as there are two classes now with non rego'd buggies etc... allowed in it. 1 class for us and another for tyres over 37 inches so it will be a cracker of a competition.

Be great to see some support. Come and say hi!
