Hi all, [bizarre topic, but nevertheless a problem]

I guess I direct this question to all the manual owners. I've started driving up to 800km a week in the course of part time work, commuting etc. I am into my second week and my left knee is absolutely killing me. The clutch pedal pad is also wearing to complete buggery very fast, and my legs are long such that they don't really fit directly under the steering wheel but on a rather aberrant angle. The clutch feels light enough and is in good adjustment.

Does anybody else have this problem with long legs not fitting under the steering wheel easily or discomfort from clutch use and have successfully remedied it? I can't keep living off panadeine.

How old is the fluid in the clutch, when was the master cylinder last replaced? I found replacing the master cylinder made a small noticeable difference in the clutch action.

Cheers
Simon

Try taking of one of the springs on the pedal (inside)
Also is it a 300 or 200 tdi as yours is a 94 its on the change.

When I first started driving manual Discos I thought the clutch was heavy but I got used to it quickly.

As for the leg length thing I reckon if I was any taller my knee would hit the steering wheel when releasing the clutch. I also have to put my foot to the left and slightly underneath the pedal when not using the clutch.
I don't find it uncomfortable though.

Uncomfortable is driving a manual Corolla as my knee does whack the steering wheel. I'm glad my wife bought the auto.

I'm 190cm tall (about 6ft 2in).

A couple of our customers have had the seat base modified to lower the seat. Would that help in your case?

I had a manual tdi, daily driver in light city traffic, after two years I had a gut full, sold it. I had the same as you nearly stuffed my left leg. Bought a Auto D2 TD5.

Both my knees get sore for extended drives, but at 198cm tall I'm pretty firmly wedged in there. I have to depress the clutch while getting in otherwise I can't swing my left leg under the wheel!

Have a play with the seating position. I find NOT having the seat all the way back helps the aches, although getting in becomes trickier.
