I am going to Winton next week. For a modest consideration I am prepared to test drive the Mucka pub for you, and give a report from the point of view of two aging p*+s-pots.

That's not "in the middle of friggen nowhere"

But it is a nice place, haven't been through there in about 20+ years though, so it may have changed a tad.

I always liked the idea of being the publican at the little pub at Wingen, near Scone, on the New England Highway. I would rename it The Wingen Cockie, or The Wingen Pom.

Wingen Pub is awesome. I stop there for R&R on my way home from Tafe in Tamworth.

Does look like a top place though Inc, if I win lotto...;) JK, I haven't bought my tickets yet!

Thats what they all say :D:D:twisted:

Seriously

Thats what I was told

It looks nice and would probably get more bookings than the Bates motel.

If it's just a pub is it a bit pricey for the location?

"Inc's bar and bordello" has a nice ring to it doesn't it.

Like something in an episode of "Allo Allo"

The population of Mucka is probably about 20 in the town. Mrs. Numpty, I would think the alleged working girls would do a terrific starve unless they managed to trap a good bit of passing trade, which is no doubt what the pub relies on for liquor sales.
Seriously, these sort of little country pubs are really buying yourself a job. Long hours, as you are expected to stay open as long as the customers want to stay there. Seven days a week, cash cheques, run tabs for the locals, and get told by all and sundry how they buy their grog from the liquor barns in Toowoomba for miles less than you can afford to charge..

Yep, the name Wingen sure raises some eyebrows. People think you're pulling their leg when we mention the place.
It's almost my local. Only about 10-15km back down towards Scone from here. Do a great cheap feed too, it offsets the yuppie/hippie food I normally eat. :D

Real name is the Durham Hotel, and it's always packed out on the weekends.

Test drove the Muckadilla pub on my recent trip to Winton, 27th September, 12.30pm. Pub is clean and neat and cool. Only people there were me, my mate, and the barman who was intently watching a TV soapie. Beer cold and priced same as other pubs we sampled, $2.90 pot. There is a pool table in the bar, not a pool as someone here suggested. Mrs. Numpty, the working girls mentioned must have been having their crib as they were not around during our stop. Inc, where do we send our invoices for our consultant fees? Minimum two days at $240 per hour is the going rate for software consultants according to my mate, plus, of course, $11.60 for four pots of XXXX Gold.
